This week Bruno returned to Sassoon Academy, London for the Academy course.
Bruno’s journey at Sassoon started in 1980 when he set up his first Salon in LA. After being inspired by his partner Soonie, who is also an Academy regular and the haircuts he saw at Sassoon Salon, which was across the road from his Salon, he knew he wanted to enrol on a course at the Academy.
Bruno has attended many courses over the years and still thrives from the stimulation and constant change of techniques and trends.
Over the years Bruno became close friends with Vidal. As their salons were so close, they saw each other daily and chatted over breakfasts every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Bruno was often interested in talking about work and gaining inspiration from him, however, Vidal always took the conversation back to Football and his beloved team – Chelsea!
Bruno reminisces back to a moment that will forever remain in his memory, “I asked Vidal one day, ‘What makes a great haircut?’ and Vidal replied ‘Shape, if the shape is bad, the haircut is bad’. From this moment I knew a haircut was more than just a cut”.
“Every time I come back, I am astonished by the inspiration and commitment behind the teams work. It is always fresh, exciting and new” says Bruno.
“My work is always more refined when I return from a course, this is important to me as well as my clients. When my clients notice the difference, it reminds me how important the education is and I always remind my team of this”.
It was a pleasure to see you again and thank you for sharing your story.
