Mood

The new mid season Academy collection has arrived.

The mid season Sassoon Academy collection has arrived and we are excited to be offering four new collection step-by-steps techniques from the new collection, available at Sassoon Online

A Sassoon collection is always a statement, an amalgam of creative ideas that while each look is bespoke to the wearer, the underlying mood of the look always revolves around the ethos of the brand.

Sassoon have an approach that’s thoughtful, with regard to the method used in the construction of the look. It’s a concise style, intent on stripping away the superfluous to reveal the uniqueness of the individual.

The looks celebrate technical ingenuity and functional minimalism and are drawn from a wide array of sources. Hyper-wearable, super utilitarian cuts and colours that are cool and interesting, created with careful consideration to the wearer’s personal style.

“The collection “Mood” is a perfect distillation of our approach.” Says Mark Hayes Sassoon International Creative Director. “The Sassoon Creative team are exploring the exquisite tension between technique, the method to control hair and attitude, the way the hair looks when it is dressed the Sassoon way.”

CUTTING TECHNIQUE

Stripping back hair to the fundamentals of design, the cuts, colours, textures and finishes complement each other. They work in combination to produce looks that have an easy, effortless quality expressing the attitude and style of the wearer.

Mid length layers are cut into a faux mohawk with concealed panels to increase versatility. The bob for this season features reverse panels and is cut without a fringe to follow the natural contours of the cheekbones. Bi level shapes are drawn around the face in clean laser sharp lines. Shoulder skimming layers either trace the contours of the face with a ribbon like finish or a cloud of curls.

COLOUR TECHNIQUE

Colour placement is key, as an iconic bob is subverted with a checkerboard pattern that boldly divides the head in contrasting tones. Zig zag lines that replicate the tones of an eagle’s wing slice through a mid-length layered cut. A box bob is reimagined in tones of blonde and copper, referencing Bowie during the Berlin years.

Rhythmically placed geometric bands for their stunning 3D effect. An asymmetrical layered look in deep mahogany is then edged in blood red.

It’s a symbol of where Sassoon work is at today, whether clean, swinging lines, gently ruffled mid length layering, or geometric colouring, the hallmarks of Sassoon technique underpin them all.
